‘Het tegengaan van bewegingsarmoede in ons verzorgingsgebied’. Het is de maatschappelijke missie van FC Groningen beschreven in het beleidsplan 2020-2025 Samen naar de Grote Markt. De maatschappelijke stip op de horizon waar de Trots van het Noorden samen met aangesloten partners voor wil strijden. Stichting FC Groningen in de Maatschappij zal de komende jaren alles binnen haar macht doen om het noordelijke achterland met de Meer & Beter Bewegen programma’s voor te bereiden op een beweegrijke toekomst.
De helft van de Nederlanders beweegt te weinig en ontwikkelt overgewicht. Momenteel heeft één op de acht jongeren overgewicht en als deze ontwikkeling zich zo doorzet, is in 2040 maar liefst twee-derde van alle volwassenen te zwaar. Hiermee zijn zij niet alleen gevoeliger voor een verlaagde weerstand, maar ook chronische ziekten zoals diabetes, hart- en vaatziekten, depressie en alzheimer. De kans op deze chronische ziekten kan aanzienlijk verminderd worden door middel van een gezonde leefstijl, waarin meer bewegen, minder zitten en goede voeding centraal staan. Nederlanders blijken namelijk koploper ‘zitten’ in Europa te zijn. Zo brengen Nederlanders van 4 jaar en ouder de dag gemiddeld 9 uur zittend door. Om deze trend te doorbreken willen wij iedereen stimuleren om meer en beter te bewegen. Daarbij hebben wij een duidelijke droom:
“FC Groningen speelt een aanjagersrol in het verzorgen van een beweegrijke toekomst voor iedereen in ons achterland”
FC Groningen in de Maatschappij staat voor sport- en beweegpromotie en wij zullen een aanjaagfunctie hebben naar sportaanbieders in onze regio. Hoe wij deze droom willen verwezenlijken, lees je in onze Beweegagenda. Dit maatschappelijke beleidsplan is zowel een informatief document, maar ook een omroep om mee te helpen. De stichting heeft vijf verschillende beweegpijlers waaronder de beweegprogramma’s vallen. Alle programma’s zijn door de stichting ontwikkeld met het idee de achterban Meer & Beter te laten bewegen. Per beweegpijler zullen de programma’s kort worden toegelicht.
Stichting FC Groningen in de Maatschappij heeft voor jong en oud beweegprogramma’s ontwikkeld. Door middel van onze filosofie en het netwerk wil FC Groningen zich nog dieper nestelen in de maatschappij. Bewegen hoort bij FC Groningen en het maximale geven en het maximale uit de mogelijkheden halen zit in het FC Groningen DNA. Dat DNA brengen we graag over op onze achterban. Dit doen wij met gevarieerde programma’s voor alle leeftijden die met behulp van onze vier kernwaarden worden ontwikkeld. De volgende vier kernwaarden staan centraal in ons handelen.

Motiveren - Een op maat gemaakte aanpak die inspeelt op de intrinsieke motivatie
Ontwikkelen - Met onze maatschappelijke trainers willen we de oren en ogen zijn in de wijk, op school en bij de club.
Verbinden - Goede puzzelstukken verzamelen om samen de grote ‘beweegplaat’ te kunnen leggen
