De eerste selectie kende woensdag een mooie middag in het Martini Ziekenhuis in Groningen. De Trots van het Noorden deed mee aan de Spinning Marathon waarmee geld werd opgehaald voor het goede doel. Ook brachten spelers van FC Groningen onder meer een bezoek aan (kinder)afdeling van het ziekenhuis.
In het ziekenhuis liggen, brengt vaak veel zorgen met zich mee en dat is bij kinderen niet anders. De selectie van FC Groningen reageerde dan ook direct positief op het verzoek van het Martini Ziekenhuis om mee te doen met de Spinning Marathon georganiseerd door Stichting Vrienden van het Martini Ziekenhuis.
Spelers en stafleden wilden naast de deelname waarmee geld werd opgehaald voor het goede doel, graag nog iets extra’s doen. Met een bezoekje aan onder meer de kinderafdeling van het ziekenhuis brachten zij hopelijk een glimlach op de gezichten en positieve energie voor de kinderen aanwezig.
Uiteraard werkten spelers en ook algemeen directeur Frank van Mosselveld zich tevens graag in het zweet voor het goede doel. Uiteindelijk werd er aan het einde van de middag een cheque overhandigd van liefst €30.000,- bijeengehaald door deelnemers en donateurs. Het geld wordt ingezet voor een omgeving die uitnodigt tot spelen, bewegen en gezond leven. Bewegen is namelijk essentieel voor het herstel van kinderen. Denk aan een mini-voetbalarena, interactieve sport- en spelmiddelen, stepjes en fietsjes.
Samen bouwen aan een toekomst waarin ieder kind de kans krijgt om fit te herstellen. Namens FC Groningen wordt iedere deelnemer aan deze Spinning Marathon hartelijk bedankt en wensen we alle kinderen die momenteel of in de toekomst op de afdeling liggen een spoedig herstel.
