Aanvaller Jens Schraven heeft onlangs zijn eerste contract bij FC Groningen getekend. De 19-jarige buitenspeler – actief in FC Groningen onder-21 – zette in Euroborg zijn handtekening onder een overeenkomst tot medio 2024 met een optie voor een extra jaar.
Jens Schraven is geboren en getogen in Leek en begon met voetballen bij VV Leek. Na een fusie speelt de vereniging – lid van het Amateurconvenant – onder de naam VV TLC. De aanvaller kwam in de opleiding bij sc Heerenveen terecht en sloot in het seizoen 2018/2019 aan bij de Opleiding van FC Groningen. Via FC Groningen onder-17 en Onder-19 speelt de buitenspeler sinds het seizoen 2021/2022 in het oudste Opleidingsteam FC Groningen onder-21.
Schraven maakte zijn officieuze debuut in het eerste elftal in de oefenwedstrijd van afgelopen seizoen tegen SV Meppen en tekende onlangs zijn eerste contract bij de club. Hoofd jeugdscouting Arno de Jong zegt over de aanvaller: “Jens is een speler die veel in zichzelf investeert en iedere dag hard wil werken. Hij heeft de aanpakkersmentaliteit die we binnen de Opleiding graag zien en heeft zich mede daardoor de afgelopen jaren als speler goed door ontwikkeld.”
“Dit contract is een beloning en moet hij zien als een stimulans om door te gaan,” vervolgt De Jong. “De specialisten in onze Opleiding gaan er alles aan doen om Jens zo goed mogelijk te begeleiden en we zullen de komende jaren zien of hij de stap naar het eerste kan maken. We feliciteren Jens met zijn contract en wensen hem veel succes om de laatste stap richting Euroborg te zetten.”
