Hilal Ben Moussa heeft afgelopen maandagavond in de competitiewedstrijd met Jong FC Groningen zwaar knieletsel opgelopen. Hij scheurde de voorste kruisband van zijn linkerknie en liep bovendien een beschadiging op aan de meniscus.
De 21-jarige middenvelder kampte al eens eerder met een zware knieblessure, die hij opliep in augustus 2010. Na zijn revalidatie maakte hij zijn rentree in Jong FC Groningen, waarin hij uitgroeide tot een vaste waarde.
In het voorjaar van 2013 maakte Ben Moussa – als invaller – tweemaal zijn opwachting in het eerste elftal. Ook tekende hij vorig jaar een profcontract bij FC Groningen voor de periode van medio 2013 tot medio 2015.
Een datum voor de knieoperatie is vooralsnog niet bekend. Volledig herstel van deze blessure neemt doorgaans een halfjaar tot een jaar in beslag.
