Na afloop van de competitiewedstrijd FC Groningen – ADO Den Haag van komende zondag zal Rijkswaterstaat een grootschalige evacuatieoefening houden.
De proef is gericht in het kader van de voorbereiding op de klimaatveranderingen en mogelijke overstromingen in Nederland. Na de voetbalwedstrijd zullen alle rijstroken op de Bornholmstraat in één richting worden opengesteld, waardoor circa tweeduizend auto’s het gebied sneller kunnen verlaten, zo laat Rijkswaterstaat weten.
Een proef op deze schaal is nog niet eerder in Nederland uitgevoerd en zal Rijkswaterstaat antwoord geven op onder meer de volgende vragen:
– Hoe reageren weggebruikers hierop?
– Hoe werkt het verkeerskundig? Kan men inderdaad sneller het gebied verlaten?
– Welke voorbereiding en begeleiding is nodig? Welk materieel, hoeveel mensen, enzovoort?
– Hoe verloopt de samenwerking tussen alle betrokken partijen en wat kan daaraan worden verbeterd?
Deze wetenschappelijke proef is een initiatief van Rijkswaterstaat en wordt door het innovatieprogramma ‘Wegen naar de Toekomst’ in samenwerking met het innovatieprogramma WINN, Politie, Gemeente Groningen, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en Universiteit Twente uitgevoerd.
