Op donderdag 22 april 2010 wordt voor de zevende keer het G-Toernooi van FC Groningen gehouden. In samenwerking met FNV Bouw, Menzis, de KNVB en het Alfa College zal er door negen teams worden gestreden om de FNV-Bouw bokaal.
Het voetbalfeest vindt evenals vorig jaar plaats op de velden van VV Glimmen, op sportpark de Groenenberg. De opening van het toernooi is om 13.30 uur. De wedstrijden beginnen vanaf 14.00 uur en de finale is gepland om 16.00 uur.
De deelnemende verenigingen bij deze zevende editie van het G-Toernooi zijn: DIO Oosterwolde, Drenthina, Asser Boys, Bato, HS’88, Veendam 1894, VEV’67, SJS en Novo.
Het toernooi begroet met zorgverzekeraar Menzis een nieuwe partner. De betrokkenheid past in het beleid van Menzis om mensen te stimuleren meer te bewegen en gezond te leven. Menzis richt zich hierbij niet alleen op volwassenen, maar ook op kinderen en minder validen. Zo is Menzis ook partner van de G-voetbaldagen van FC Twente en Vitesse. Om de betrokkenheid met het FC Groningen G-Toernooi te onderstrepen, heeft Menzis samen met FNV Bouw speciale shirts laten maken, die aan alle deelnemers zal worden uitgereikt.
Elk team zal gecoacht en begeleidt worden door twee spelers en of trainers van de eerste selectie van FC Groningen. Tevens zullen studenten van het Alfa College elk team begeleiden.
