Maikel Kieftenbeld (FC Groningen), Jordan Botaka (sbv Excelsior) en Jeroen Zoet (PSV) zijn genomineerd voor de titel ‘Maatschappelijk Speler Eredivisie 2015’.
Aan de verkiezing ‘Maatschappelijk Speler Eredivisie 2015’ is een prijs gekoppeld van € 50.000, beschikbaar gesteld door de VriendenLoterij, Maatschappelijk Partner van de Eredivisie. Deze prijs wordt volledig besteed aan een sociaal project naar keuze van de winnaar. De VriendenLoterij en Eredivisie onderstrepen met deze prijs het maatschappelijke belang van voetbal en de voorbeeldrol die spelers daarbij kunnen vervullen.
Alle Eredivisieclubs is gevraagd één speler voor te dragen die zich op een bijzondere wijze inzet voor een sterkere samenleving. De Eredivisie en Stichting Meer dan Voetbal hebben daaruit deze drie genomineerden gekozen. Publiek stemmen Nieuw dit jaar is dat het publiek mee kan stemmen om te bepalen wie de uiteindelijke winnaar wordt. De winnaar van de publieksstemronde krijgt één stem in het juryrapport. Het publiek kan stemmen op een van de genomineerden via www.maatschappelijkspeler.nl. Onder alle stemmers verloot de Eredivisie fantastische prijzen, waaronder een arrangement voor twee personen bij het Voetballer van het Jaar Gala 2015 waar ze de winnaar ontmoeten.
De top drie wordt vervolgens beoordeeld door een jury bestaande uit: de publiekstem, Deniz Türüç (winnaar 2014), Alex Tielbeke (Directeur Eredivisie CV), Jaap de Groot (Chef sport De Telegraaf) en Michiel Verboven (managing director VriendenLoterij). Maandag 31 augustus wordt tijdens het Voetballer van het Jaar Gala 2015 bekendgemaakt wie zich Maatschappelijk Speler Eredivisie 2015 mag noemen en de € 50.000 in ontvangst mag nemen. Genomineerden Jordan Botaka is erg betrokken bij verschillende maatschappelijke projecten van Excelsior en zet zich hiervoor met veel enthousiasme in. Enkele voorbeelden van projecten zijn: Playing For Success, Excelsior Clinics en Excelsior Schools . Door zijn bewogen levensgeschiedenis kent Jordan Botaka de waarde van maatschappelijke activiteiten en vervult hij een voorbeeldfunctie voor jongeren.
Jeroen Zoet zet zich op diverse maatschappelijk gebieden in voor PSV. Niet alleen binnen de club met activiteiten zoals ‘Playing for Success’ en ‘Geef racisme de rode kaart’, maar ook buiten de club is Jeroen maatschappelijk actief als ambassadeur voor Spieren voor Spieren. Jeroen beseft zich als geen ander dat hij als voetballer de mogelijkheid heeft om levens van mensen een positieve wending te geven. Kieftenbeld Maikel Kieftenbeld is betrokken bij veel projecten en zet zich wekelijks in op maatschappelijk gebied. Hij stopt met name veel energie in de FC Groningen BuurtBattle en is een van de ambassadeurs van Kids United. Dit project heeft een speciaal plekje in zijn hart.
