FC Groningen D1 speelt zaterdagochtend op Corpus den Hoorn in het bekertoernooi tegen GRC Groningen D1. Een wedstrijd in de knock-outfase van het KNVB-bekertoernooi voor D-pupillen in District Noord.
Drie jaar geleden wist FC Groningen D1 de dubbel te pakken. Ook dit jaar lijkt de ploeg van trainer Hugo Alves Velame hard op weg naar de hoofdprijzen. In de competitie steekt de ploeg met kop en schouders boven de rest uit.
In het bekertoernooi werd de poulefase redelijk makkelijk doorlopen en was de ploeg vervolgens met 6-0 te sterk voor WVV uit Winschoten, de huidige nummer 5 van het niveau onder FC Groningen D1. Ook tegenstander GRC Groningen D1 komt uit in die Tweede Divisie en staat momenteel op de tiende plaats. Het duel begint om 10.30 uur en geldt voor FC Groningen op papier als een uitwedstrijd. Maar tegen de sportparkgenoot zal gewoon op het eigen kunstgrasveld worden gespeeld.
De D2 gaat in bekerverband op bezoek bij HSC, dat niet in een landelijk competitie speelt. De ploeg van Peter Hoekstra rekende eerder af met Helpman en is in de competitie aardig op stoom. Tienmaal op rij werd er gewonnen door de ploeg. Het duel begint in Sappemeer om 11.00 uur.
De A1 gaat op bezoek bij FC Utrecht A1 en trapt af om 14.30 uur. De overige drie teams spelen oefenduels. C2 speelt vanaf 10.30 uur tegen Utrecht. C1 begint om 12.00 uur tegen Cambuur en de B1 trapt om 14.00 uur af tegen Twente/Heracles.
