Op 14 april 2012 kwam bij een ernstig auto-ongeluk FC-supporter Patrick van Bloppoel (20) om het leven. Zijn vrienden hebben een blijvende herinnering geplaatst op het bord van Mien Plek en kregen een stoel mee uit Euroborg.
Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd FC Groningen – De Graafschap op vrijdag 27 april werd Patrick door zijn vrienden op Vak G herdacht door een spandoek en het afsteken van een zestal fakkels. Dit na nauw overleg met de club. Enkele weken later namen deze vrienden contact op met FC Groningen en gaven aan graag mee te willen doen aan Mien Plek.
Vanochtend brachten Rick van Sprongen en Marco Horst, namens alle vrienden die mee hadden gedaan om deelname voor elkaar te krijgen, een bezoek aan Euroborg.
Het naamplaatje van hun overleden vriend plaatsten ze op het Mien Plek bord op de Tonny van Leeuwen Tribune. Ook namen zij de stoel mee uit Euroborg met daarop de naam van Patrick.
Hiermee heeft hun kameraad een vaste plaats van herinnering gekregen in ons stadion en hebben zijn vrienden een blijvende herinnering aan hun overleden vriend.
