De aanklager betaald voetbal is een vooronderzoek gestart naar het mogelijk opstellen van een onrechtmatige speler bij wedstrijden van Jong Vitesse. Het gaat om de Rochdi Achenteh van Vitesse, die vanwege het aantal deelgenomen wedstrijden in het eerste elftal mogelijk niet meer mocht uitkomen in de Beloftencompetitie.
Rochdi Achenteh speelde zeventien wedstrijden in het eerste elftal van PEC Zwolle, voordat hij de overstap maakte naar Vitesse. Bij de Arnhemse club speelde hij zes duels in het eerste elftal. FC Groningen nam maandagavond kennis van de opstelling van Jong Vitesse in de competitiewedstrijd tegen Jong FC Dordrecht en heeft daarop telefonisch contact gelegd met de KNVB en de bond gevraagd naar de regelgeving.
Naast Valeri Qazaishvili en Lucas Piazon was Achenteh namelijk de derde speler met 23 competitiewedstrijden of meer in het eerste elftal, waar er volgens de reglementen slechts twee toegestaan zijn. De lezing van Vitesse is echter dat de duels bij een vorige club in hetzelfde seizoen niet zouden meetellen. Naar later bleek, heeft Vitesse op maandag 14 april al eens dezelfde interpretatie aan de regels gegeven in de thuiswedstrijd tegen Jong VVV/Helmond (3-1).
Jong FC Groningen en Jong Vitesse eindigden afgelopen maandag in punten gelijk in de Beloftencompetitie Divisie A, waarbij Vitesse door een beter doelsaldo kampioen werd. Vanwege het vooronderzoek is de wedstrijd om het kampioenschap van Nederland Beloftencompetitie tussen Jong Vitesse en Jong Feyenoord, de kampioen van Divisie B, van maandag 5 mei voorlopig uit het programma gehaald. Een uitspraak wordt niet voor maandag 5 mei verwacht.
