De voorbereiding van het eerste elftal van FC Groningen is rond. Op vrijdag 27 juni en zaterdag 28 juni wordt gespeeld tegen respectievelijk RWE Eemsmond en VV Beilen. Verder zijn BV Cloppenburg, VfB Oldenburg en Aston Villa de tegenstanders.
De eerste training van het nieuwe seizoen is zondag 22 juni vanaf 15.00 uur op Sportpark de Koepel in Haren en zal circa anderhalf uur duren.
Een weekend later staan twee ontmoetingen met amateurteams gepland. Vrijdag 27 juni om 19.00 uur wordt bij VV Corenos in Roodeschool afgetrapt, traditioneel in de openingswedstrijd tegen het combinatieteam van RWE Eemsmond. Een dag later, op zaterdag 28 juni, is om 16.00 uur de aftrap bij VV Beilen – FC Groningen.
In het weekeinde van zaterdag 5 juli wordt om 15.00 uur bij GOMOS in Norg geoefend tegen het Duitse BV Cloppenburg. Op zaterdag 12 juli (17.00 uur) zal er op Sportpark de Koepel in Haren worden gespeeld tegen het Duitse VfB Oldenburg.
Donderdag 17 juli en donderdag 24 juli zijn de eerste wedstrijden in de Europa League. Bij winst wordt op donderdag 31 juli en donderdag 7 augustus gespeeld in de volgende voorronde van de Europa League. Zaterdag 2 augustus om 17.00 uur is in Euroborg de oefenwedstrijd tegen het Engelse Aston Villa.
