Na een dag vrij is de selectie van FC Groningen donderdag begonnen aan de finale voorbereiding op de seizoenstart tegen Go Ahead Eagles, zondagmiddag in De Adelaarshorst in Deventer. Hoofdtrainer Erwin van de Looi kon tevreden constateren dat alle spelers zich meldden op het trainingsveld aan het Helperpark.
Bij de laatste oefenwedstrijd voor de start van de Eredivisie seizoen 2014/2015, afgelopen zaterdag tegen Aston Villa, ontbraken nog de nodige basisspelers. Met name in verdedigend opzicht moest Van de Looi zijn ploeg aanpassen tijdens het oefenduel met de Premier Leagueclub van voormalig speler Leandro Bacuna. Voor het resultaat maakte dit geen verschil. FC Groningen won in Euroborg tamelijk overtuigend met 4-1. Inzetbaar De verdedigers Hans Hateboer, Eric Botteghin en Lorenzo Burnet en aanvaller Filip Kostic ontbraken tegen Aston Villa vanwege fysieke ongemakken. Donderdag keerden zij allen weer terug op het trainingsveld, waar werd toegewerkt naar de competitiestart van komend weekend. Hoe fit de diverse spelers zijn voor het duel met Go Ahead Eagles en wie er wel of niet inzetbaar zullen zijn in Deventer, zal de komende dagen duidelijk worden.
