Op woensdag 31 augustus gebeurde er een hoop op de transfermarkt. Zo vertrok Tim Matavz naar PSV en kwam David Texeira de FC versterken. Ondertussen speelden een aantal leden van de Junior Club een fantastisch toernooi op sportpark Corpus Den Hoorn. Het werd een dag met humor, plezier en een hoop winnaars!
Om 10.00 uur begonnen 33 piepjonge FC supporters aan het Junior Club voetbaltoernooi. De jongste deelnemer was nog maar 6 jaar oud. Op dit toernooi speelden 6 teams in 2 poules tegen elkaar. De eerste wedstrijden waren erg spannend en er waren veel gelijke spelen! Na 2 poulewedstrijden per team was het tijd voor een welverdiende pauze.
Na de pauze speelde de nummer 1 van de ene poule tegen de nummer 2 uit de andere poule. Het werden opnieuw zeer spannende wedstrijden en uiteindelijk moesten er zelfs strafschoppen genomen worden om te bepalen wie er in de finale stond. Na de strafschoppenserie waren het team groenpaars en team geelblauw die de finale haalden, maar er waren natuurlijk alleen maar winnaars!
De finale was er eentje om van te smullen! Hoewel de heerlijke zon vervangen werd door regen waren onze jonge talenten niet van plan om hun toernooizege in het water te laten vallen. Team groenpaars kwam al snel op een 2-0 voorsprong en het leek erop dat ze de finale gingen winnen, maar uit het niets kwam het geelblauwe team ijzersterk terug. Ze wonnen uiteindelijk zelfs met 4-3 van het groenpaarse team!
Bij de prijsuitreiking kregen alle deelnemers een goodiebag met leuke FC Groningen spulletjes en een vaantje. De winnaars kregen ook nog eens een mooi bal van FC Groningen. Wij hopen dat iedereen heeft genoten van het toernooi en zien jullie graag weer terug bij een van onze activiteiten.
