FC Groningen heeft met vijf selectiespelers gesproken over hun contracten die komende zomer aflopen. Aanvoerder Rasmus Lindgren gaat de club na dit seizoen verlaten. Topscorer Michael de Leeuw heeft een voorstel in beraad.
Rasmus Lindgren heeft een éénjarige aanbieding van de club naast zich neergelegd. De 31-jarige aanvoerder van FC Groningen weet nog niet waar hij zijn loopbaan voortzet. “Het was een hele moeilijke beslissing, maar in overleg met mijn gezin heb ik besloten om te kijken of er zich nog een ander avontuur aandient. De club heeft mij een prima voorstel gedaan – hetgeen ik waardeer – maar ik zou graag nog een paar jaar in de Zweedse competitie willen spelen. Concrete belangstelling is er echter nog niet. Ik wilde eerst goed nadenken over een langer verblijf bij FC Groningen. Nu de beslissing is gevallen, houd ik alle opties open. Ook een eventueel ander buitenlands avontuur buiten Nederland,” aldus Lindgren in reactie op zijn aanstaande vertrek bij FC Groningen.
Voorstel Clubtopscorer Michael de Leeuw kan zijn verbintenis in Euroborg verlengen. FC Groningen heeft hem een voorstel gedaan voor een contract van twee seizoenen.
Verdediger Lorenzo Burnet heeft eveneens een aflopende overeenkomst bij FC Groningen. De club is met hem nog in gesprek of hieraan na de zomer een vervolg zal worden gegeven.
Aanvaller Dino Islamovic en doelman Peter van der Vlag hebben van FC Groningen te horen gekregen dat zij na dit seizoen hun spelerscarrière mogen voorzetten bij een andere club.
