FC Groningen TV besteedt vanavond uitgebreid aandacht aan de interland tussen Jong Oranje en Jong Schotland van gisteravond in Nijmegen. In het Goffertstadion was FC Groningen hofleverancier van Jong Oranje met maar liefst vier spelers in de selectie van bondscoach Cor Pot. Virgil van Dijk en Lorenzo Burnet debuteerden en begonnen meteen in de basis.
Een succesvol debuut werd het niet want Jong Oranje verloor teleurstellend met 2-1 van de leeftijdsgenoten uit Schotland. Daar kon een invalbeurt van Leandro Bacuna in de tweede helft ook niets meer aan veranderen. Maikel Kieftenbeld bleef de gehele wedstrijd op de bank. FCG TV sprak met Van Dijk, Burnet, Bacuna en Pot en peilde vooraf de populariteit van de spelers bij de Jong Oranje-fans.
In de wekelijkse nieuwsbrief kijkt FC Groningen directeur Hans Nijland terug op het duel van Jong Oranje en kijkt hij alvst vooruit naar twee bijzondere evenementen die deze week op het programma staan. Want komende donderdag brengt Koningin Beatrix een bezoek aan De Groene kathedraal in verband met het vijftigjarig bestaan van Stichting Het Poortje. Nijland zal haar die dag persoonlijk welkom gaan heten. En vrijdag zullen Petter Andersson, Koen van de Laak en fysiotherapeut Peter Eppinga een bezoek brengen aan het Martiniziekenhuis in Groningen waar ze zullen vertellen over hun ervaringen met sportrevalidaties.
Gonzalo Garcia maakte eind juni van dit jaar de overstap van FC Groningen naar het Cypriotische AEK Larnaca. Met die ploeg ging hij onlangs voor de Europa League op bezoek bij Schalke ’04 in Gelsenkirchen. FC Groningen TV zocht hem op in Duitsland.
FC Groningen TV wordt vanavond om 17.55 uur uitgezonden op Eredivisie Live 1. De herhalingen zijn om 19.00 uur, 21.00 uur en 23.00 uur op Eredivisie Live 2.
