Vanavond om 22.00 uur is op Fox Sports Kanaal 1 de première te zien van de Fox Sports Doc 'De Groene Hel'. De ruim 55 minuten durende Doc gaat over het seizoen 2007/2008 van FC Groningen. Een seizoen dat lange tijd uitstekend verliep voor de FC, maar door het plotselinge vertrek van drie dragende spelers in januari 2008 en de tribunebrand op 13 april 2008 tegen Ajax eindigde in mineur.
In het seizoen 2007/2008 streed FC Groningen lang mee om een plek in de play-offs om de voorronde van de Champions League en was zelfs een mogelijke titel niet ver weg. De FC was thuis onverslaanbaar en ging gelijk op met Feyenoord en Ajax, totdat in januari 2008 plotseling drie dragende spelers vertrokken: Bruno Silva en Rasmus Lindgren naar Ajax en Erik Nevland naar het Engelse Fulham. FC Groningen was in korte tijd ontmanteld. Een half jaar eerder was Luis Suarez al niet geheel geruisloos naar Ajax gegaan.
Op zondag 13 april 2008 kwam die club op bezoek in Euroborg. Een sfeeractie rond de beladen wedstrijd eindigde die middag echter niet in een groots spektakel, maar in een tribunebrand. Het was een triest slot van wat een heel mooi seizoen van FC Groningen had kunnen worden. Diverse betrokkenen komen aan het woord in de Doc zoals Hans Nijland, Henk Veldmate, Ron Jans, Evgeniy Levchenko, Rasmus Lindgren, Theo Huizinga, David Endt en Jacques Wallage.
De Doc ‘De Groene Hel’ wordt vanavond om 22.00 uur uitgezonden op Fox Sports Kanaal 1. De herhaling is te zien om 23.00 uur op kanaal 5. Donderdag wordt de Doc om 18.00 uur herhaald op kanaal 5, zondag om 10.30 uur op kanaal 3 en maandag om 18.00 uur op kanaal 5.
