FC Groningen speelt vanavond, woensdag 18 juli, op de velden van ASVB in Blijham tegen het Duitse KFC Uerdingen. Het duel begint om 19.00 uur. De kassa’s zijn geopend vanaf 17.30 uur. Tickets voor volwassenen kosten 9 euro. De jeugd tot en met 12 jaar betaalt 4 euro.
Voor FC Groningen is het de vijfde oefenwedstrijd in de aanloop naar de competitiestart op zondag 12 augustus. Na drie zeges op amateurclubs in wedstrijden waarin alle fitte veldspelers veelal 45 minuten speelden, was er afgelopen vrijdag in Norg een flinke groep die 60 minuten maakte tegen SV Meppen (2-1 overwinning) en de rest veelal 30 minuten. Vanavond zullen de rollen grotendeels omgedraaid zijn.
Uerdingen begint op zondag 29 juli in de 3. Bundesliga met een thuiswedstrijd tegen Unterhaching en oefende de voorbije drie weken al vijf keer. Tegen Bonner werd het 2-2, tegen Oefa uit Rusland eindigde een oefenduel in 1-1. Vervolgens won KFC Uerdingen met 3-1 van het Tsjechische Pribram en daarna was Mainz met 2-1 te sterk. Maandagavond werd met 1-0 gewonnen van Eindhoven door de ploeg die uitsluitend uit Duitse spelers bestaat.
