FC Groningen heeft Paco van Moorsel van FC Den Bosch gecontracteerd. De 22-jarige middenvelder tekent een driejarig contract in Euroborg. De Brabander komt per 1 juli transfervrij over naar de Trots van het Noorden.
Van Moorsel debuteerde al op 29 september 2006 tegen Go Ahead Eagles op 16-jarige leeftijd in het betaalde voetbal. De in Veldhoven geboren middenvelder speelde ondanks zijn jonge leeftijd inmiddels al meer dan honderd competitiewedstrijden in de Jupiler League. Talentvol Manager technische zaken Henk Veldmate van FC Groningen zegt over Van Moorsel: “Hij behoort tot één van de meest talentvolle middenvelders van de Jupiler League. Wij volgen Van Moorsel al geruime tijd. Volgens onze informatie was er voor hem ook belangstelling van andere Eredivisieclubs, waaronder NAC Breda en NEC. Aangezien hij bij Den Bosch en aflopend contract heeft, was dit het moment om hem over te nemen. Wij zijn dan ook blij dat hij voor ons heeft gekozen.”
Van Moorsel speelde dit seizoen vijftien competitiewedstrijden voor Den Bosch waarin hij zes keer scoorde. Het is de bedoeling dat de nieuwste aanwinst van FC Groningen dinsdag wordt gepresenteerd tijdens de nieuwjaarsbijeenkomst van de club in Euroborg.
