FC Groningen kijkt vanavond vooruit naar de eerste thuiswedstrijd van dit seizoen van FC Groningen, komende zondag tegen Willem II. De uitzending begint vanavond al om 17.45 uur op Eredivisie Live 1.
FCG TV nam deze week een kijkje in Euroborg en zag dat er in De Groene Kathedraal door man en macht hard gewerkt wordt om alles in gereedheid te brengen zodat het zondag een heerlijke voetbalmiddag kan worden. Jaap Kruizenga, manager facilitaire zaken van FC Groningen, gaf FCG TV een rondleiding en liet zien dat er deze zomer veel aan is gedaan om Euroborg een mooier gezicht te geven.
Zo is de hoofdingang verplaatst omdat de businesslounge is verbouwd en gemoderniseerd waardoor het voor sponsors nog aantrekkelijker is geworden om bij een thuiswedstrijd van FC Groningen te zijn. Opvallend is ook de aangebrachte graffiti in de trappenhuizen. De fraaie composities tonen FC Groningen in al haar facetten.
Ook de selectie van trainer Robert Maaskant werkte zich deze week flink in het zweet om helemaal klaar te zijn voor de confrontatie met promovendus Willem II. Volgens Maaskant ‘zijn de messen geslepen.’ Voor Virgil van Dijk en Michael de Leeuw is het duel met de Tilburgers een speciale wedstrijd omdat zij beide afkomstig zijn uit de jeugdopleiding van Willem II.
Vooral Van Dijk kijkt uit naar de wedstrijd tegen zijn oude club. Voor De Leeuw geldt zondag maar een ding: winnen. En dat is wat Maaskant uiteraard ook graag wil zien al waakt hij voor onderschatting van de ploeg die door velen wordt gezien als een degradatiekandidaat.
Vier spelers van FC Groningen sloten pas gisteren aan bij de selectie van Maaskant. Van Dijk, Kappelhof, Bacuna en Zeefuik maakten deel uit van de selectie van Jong Oranje en verloren met die ploeg afgelopen woensdag kansloos met 3-0 van de leeftijdsgenoten van Jong Italie.
FCG TV peilde donderdagochtend na de training de stemming bij de internationals en ondervond dat alleen Zeefuik met een goed gevoel terugkijkt op de wedstrijd die vooral in het teken stond van de voorbereiding op de EK-kwalificatiewedstrijd van 7 september tegen Oostenrijk.
Tot slot maakte FC Groningen deze week bekend dat het belangstelling heeft voor de 18-jarige aanvaller Edison Flores uit Peru. Manager technische zaken Henk Veldmate vertelt in FC Groningen TV de laatste stand van zaken omtrent Flores en FC Groningen.
