Peter van der Vlag mag zich de beste footgolfer van de selectie noemen. Hij had zaterdagmiddag in Spanje de minste pogingen nodig om de negen holes af te werken. Met 36 draaide hij een moyenne van precies vier.
Een dag nadat Stadjes Jaap Urban als 159ste was geëindigd op het WK Footgolf in Argentinië gingen de selectiespelers van FC Groningen de baan op in Spanje voor een gesloten clubkampioenschap. Reservedoelman Peter van der Vlag heeft zijn achternaam natuurlijk flink mee en liep het rondje in 36 beurten. Bryan Linssen deed het slechts een fractie minder en eindigde in 37. Jesper Drost kwam rond in een keurige 39, goed voor eveneens een podiumplaats.
Na de sessie footgolf maakten de spelers en staf zich op voor een busreis naar Sevilla om daar een bezoek te brengen aan de competitiewedstrijd tussen Sevilla en Atletic Club de Bilbao. De thuisclub en voormalige club van Hedwiges Maduro won de confrontatie met 2-0 en is daarmee opgeklommen naar de zesde plek in de Primeira Division. Na afloop van de wedstrijd ging de groep een hapje eten in de buurt van het stadion.
Op zondag staat de achtste en laatste training op het programma en gaat de selectie nog eens vol aan de bak. Maandagmiddag om 14.30 uur wordt weer op Corpus den Hoorn getraind. In de tussentijd wordt zondagavond de thuisreis naar Euroborg gemaakt en zit het wintertrainingskamp 2016 er op. Zondag 17 januari is FC Utrecht, dat het trainingskamp in Nederland belegde, de eerste competitietegenstander van het nieuwe kalenderjaar. In Euroborg wordt om 14.30 uur afgetrapt.
