Erwin van de Looi zal vanavond in het gezelschap van teammanager Bas Roorda en huisjurist Wim Entzinger afreizen naar Zeist voor de mondelinge behandeling van de zaak rond de veldverwijzing van afgelopen zaterdagavond.
Afgelopen zaterdagavond werd Van de Looi wegens herhaaldelijke aanmerkingen op de arbitrage op advies van vierde official Allard Lindhout door scheidsrechter Tom van Sichem naar de tribune verwezen. Dat gebeurde kort voor de pauze van PSV-FC Groningen bij een 2-2 tussenstand.
Een schikkingsvoorstel van één duel schorsing werd door Erwin van de Looi en FC Groningen verworpen en daarom wordt de kwestie voorgelegd aan de tuchtcommissie van de KNVB. De zitting is donderdagavond in Zeist. Vrijdagochtend 4 april wordt de uitspraak verwacht.
Trainer Erwin van de Looi zei hierover het volgende: “Afgelopen zaterdag heb ik wel wat gezegd tegen de vierde official, maar telkens in nette bewoordingen. Ik ben ook niet uit het coachvak gekomen en heb voor, tijdens en na de wedstrijd niet met scheidsrechter Van Sichem gesproken.”
“De straf van één duel onvoorwaardelijk heeft me dan ook verrast. Het is mijn werk om training te geven en wedstrijden te coachen. De voorgestelde straf vind ik dan ook niet in relatie met hetgeen er in Eindhoven is gebeurd, te meer daar ik ook nog een blanco strafkaart heb. Dit alles is de reden dat ik niet akkoord ben gegaan met het schikkingsvoorstel.”
