Jong FC Groningen heeft maandagavond de thuiswedstrijd tegen Jong Heracles Almelo verloren met 2-0. Bij rust was het 0-1. De FC speelde ruim een uur in ondertal door een rode kaart van Luis Pedro da Silva Ferreira.
Al in de beginfase kreeg de FC te maken met een tegenvaller. Luis Pedro haalde binnen de zestien meter zijn naamgenoot Luis Pedro neer en werd bestraft met een gele kaart en een strafschop tegen. De penalty werd benut door Anmar Almubaraki: 0-1.
Nog binnen het eerste kwartier kreeg trainer Dick Lukkien nog een tegenvaller te verwerken toen hij Suk Hyun-Jun noodgedwongen moest vervangen. De zuid-Koreaan liep in de warming-up een blessure op rond zijn rechterheup. Jelle Wagenaar was de vervanger van Suk.
Emil Johansson en Glynor Plet kregen het even later met elkaar aan de stok. Beiden werden bestraft met een gele kaart. In de 23ste minuut ging FC-rechtsback Luis Pedro opnieuw in de fout. Hij kreeg een tweede gele kaart voor een overtreding op Thomas Bruns en zo moest FC Groningen de wedstrijd in ondertal uitspelen.
In het restant van de eerste helft kreeg Matias Jones een kans. Hij schoot voorlangs. Ook was er nog dreiging van Tim Sparv die tweemaal tegen doelman Dennis Telgenkamp aan schoot. Vervolgens peerde Henk Bos de bal nog eens tegen de lat. In de tweede helft bleef de thuisploeg vol voor de gelijkmaker gaan.
Halverweg de tweede helft werd Atilay Batbay vervangen door Yoëll van Nieff. FC Groningen bleef lange tijd in de wedstrijd, zonder tot echt grote kansen te komen. Negen minuten voor tijd was de wedstrijd gespeeld toen Lerin Duarte de bal in de rechterkruising achter Luciano da Silva krulde: 0-2. Komende maandag is de uitwedstrijd tegen Vitesse/AGOVV de tweede competitiewedstrijd van Jong FC Groningen.
