In Euroborg heeft FC Groningen donderdagmiddag twee nieuwe spelers gepresenteerd: rechtsback Stefano Magnasco en doelman Marco Bizot. Magnasco tekende een overeenkomst voor de duur van drie seizoenen plus een optie voor nog één jaar. Bizot zette zijn handtekening onder een contract voor de komende twee jaar met een optie voor nog eens twee seizoenen. Coach Robert Maaskant heeft na de eerdere komst van vijf spelers nu zeven nieuwe spelers in de selectie.
Marco Bizot is een 21-jarige doelman van Ajax die afgelopen door de Amsterdamse club werd verhuurd aan SC Cambuur in de Jupiler League. Bizot werd op 10 maart 1991 geboren in het Noord-Hollandse Hoorn en speelde bij de amateurs van SV Westfriezen in Zwaag. Sinds 2000 doorliep hij vanaf de E-pupillen alle jeugdteams bij de huidige landskampioen. Zijn contract in Amsterdam liep tot medio 2013. FC Groningen betaalt een vergoedingssom aan Ajax. Ondanks een polsblessure kwam hij afgelopen seizoen 17 competitiewedstrijden in actie in het eerste elftal van de Friese club. Ook speelde hij viermaal in de play-offs. Daarnaast speelde hij nog tweemaal in Jong FC Groningen, dat met SC Cambuur een samenwerkingsverband heeft. Bizot keepte afgelopen seizoen drie duels in Jong Oranje en kwam in Toulon tweemaal in actie in het Nederlands Beloften Elftal. Daarvoor doorliep hij alle vertegenwoordigende elftallen vanaf Oranje onder-15.
Stefano Magnasco Galindo is een 19-jarige Chileense rechtsback, die tevens in het bezit is van een Italiaans paspoort. Magnasco werd op 28 september 1992 geboren in Santiago en speelt sinds zijn tiende voor Universidad Catolica. In 2011 verlengde hij zijn contract bij de Zuid-Amerikaanse club tot medio 2015, waardoor FC Groningen een transfersom verschuldigd is aan Universidad Catolica. Hiermee is een bedrag van circa 480.000 euro gemoeid. Sinds 2011 speelt Magnasco in het eerste elftal van de Chileense club. Hij maakte in 2011 zestien keer zijn opwachting in een competitieduel in de hoofdmacht en dit jaar veertien keer. Daarnaast speelde hij drie bekerduels en zeven internationale clubwedstrijden.
Na Paco van Moorsel, Filip Kostic, Mitchell Schet, Michael de Leeuw en Género Zeefuik zijn Stefano Magnasco en Marco Bizot de zesde en zevende nieuwe aanwinst voor het seizoen 2012/2013.
