FC Groningen heeft met Huddersfield Town overeenstemming bereikt over een transfer van Juninho Bacuna. De 20-jarige geboren Stadjer had in het Noordlease Stadion nog een overeenkomst tot medio 2019 en tekent in Engeland een meerjarig contract bij de Premier Leagueclub.
Juninho Bacuna speelde in totaal 94 officiële wedstrijden voor de Trots van het Noorden. Daarin scoorde de middenvelder vier keer. Hij debuteerde op 5 februari 2015 – op pas 17-jarige leeftijd – in het eerste elftal in de uitwedstrijd tegen Heracles Almelo. Datzelfde jaar was Bacuna invaller in de gewonnen bekerfinale tegen PEC Zwolle, waardoor hij deelgenoot is van de eerste tastbare prijs in de clubgeschiedenis van FC Groningen.
Bacuna stroomde al in 2008 vanuit de voetbalschool op 10-jarige leeftijd in in de opleiding van FC Groningen. Hij was afkomstig van GRC en daarvoor FC Lewenborg. Bacuna begon op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn in de toenmalige D2 waarna hij achtereenvolgens voor FC Groningen D1, C3, C1, B2 en B1 speelde. Na een half jaar in FC Groningen onder-19 werd hij in 2015 overgeheveld naar de eerste selectie.
