Ajdin Hrustic werd door FC Groningen opgeleid en groeide uit tot basisspeler in het Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadion. De Australische international kwam tot 75 wedstrijden voor de Trots van het Noorden waarin de middenvelder zes keer scoorde. Hrustic speelt tegenwoordig in de Duitse Bundesliga voor Eintracht Frankfurt, maar heeft nog altijd veel contact met zijn ex-teamgenoten. De middenvelder heeft veel vertrouwen in de FC op bezoek in Emmen, zo blijkt uit zijn voorspelling.
Eén van de zes goals die Hrustic voor FC Groningen maakte was de winnende op bezoek bij FC Emmen in 2019. De Australiër rondde een schitterende assist van Ramon Pascal Lundqvist af waardoor FC Groningen in de openingsronde van het seizoen 2019/2020 met 1-0 won. Voor editie van aankomende zondag voorspelt een overwinning voor FC Groningen. Hrustic volgt FC Groningen nog op de voet, maar zal vanwege een eigen wedstrijd met Eintracht Frankfurt op zondag het duel van de FC niet live kunnen volgen.”Ik moet de wedstrijd later terugkijken.”
