FC Groningen ontvangt dankzij hun supporters dit jaar een bedrag van 124.505 euro voor de opleiding.
Bij de VriendenLoterij hebben de ruim 500.000 deelnemers de mogelijkheid om voor een zelfgekozen goed doel mee te spelen, waaronder ook hun favoriete Eredivisieclub. Van elk door hen gekocht lot gaat de helft direct naar de opleiding van de club. Nog niet eerder brachten de fans van FC Groningen in een jaar tijd een zo hoog bedrag bij elkaar, vorig jaar was het bedrag 122.057 euro.
FC Groningen gebruikt de schenking aan de opleiding onder meer voor scholing, zodat kinderen naast hun voetbalopleiding op een toekomst in de maatschappij worden voorbereid. De opgedane kennis tijdens de jeugdopleiding op sociaal en maatschappelijk gebied nemen ze mee in hun verdere toekomst.
