Fredrik Stenman vertrekt komende zomer naar de Belgische competitie en zal de komende drie seizoenen spelen voor Club Brugge. De linksback werd zojuist gepresenteerd in België.
Stenman is bezig aan zijn vierde seizoen bij FC Groningen en neemt ‘met pijn in het hart’ afscheid van Euroborg. “Club Brugge heeft mij een aanbod gedaan dat ik niet kon weigeren en ik kan een contract tekenen voor drie seizoenen,” aldus de Zweed die in juni 28 jaar wordt.
“Het is voor mij een nieuwe uitdaging. De Belgische competitie heeft als geheel misschien een minder grote uitstraling, maar Club Brugge heeft een begroting die tien miljoen hoger ligt dan die van FC Groningen.” Steun gekregen “Ik ben een heel gelukkig mens, maar het doet ook pijn om afscheid te gaan nemen. FC Groningen heeft mij in vier jaar heel veel gegeven. Ik heb altijd de steun gekregen van de mensen binnen de club en de supporters en wil iedereen alvast heel hartelijk bedanken.”
“Maar vanaf morgen (donderdag – red.) zal ik mij de komende maanden uiteraard volop inzetten voor FC Groningen. Vanaf nu richt ik me met de ploeg op het bereiken van de vierde plaats.”
Sinds zijn komst in de zomer van 2007 heeft Stenman tot dusver 133 officiële wedstrijden gespeeld in het groen-wit van FC Groningen. Daarin scoorde hij vier doelpunten.
