De afgelopen drie weken trainden oud-Veendammers Mitch Apau, Lars Lambooij, Lars Hutten en Tom Overtoom mee bij FC Groningen. De stage van Apau en Lambooij wordt verlengd. Hutten zal niet langer meetrainen bij de club. Met Overtoom wordt volgende week gesproken.
Sinds maandag 8 april kwam het kwartet van het failliete SC Veendam naar Euroborg om te trainen. Na drie weken heeft een evaluatie plaatsgevonden, waarbij Apau een verlenging van de stage heeft afgedwongen. Technisch manager Henk Veldmate: “Mitch Apau heeft op de technische staf een positieve indruk achtergelaten en zal ook de komende periode bij ons blijven trainen. Dat geldt ook voor Lars Lambooij. Hij begon door een blessure met een trainingsachterstand, maar is op de weg terug en zal ook bij ons op stage blijven.”
Voor Lars Hutten zit na een kleine drie weken het verblijf bij FC Groningen erop. “We hebben de stage beëindigd en hij zal een andere weg kiezen. Tom Overtoom is de vierde speler die meetraint. Hij is momenteel geblesseerd en met hem zullen we volgende week een tussentijdse evaluatie hebben.”
