Zaterdagmiddag wordt het seizoen van FC Groningen TV afgesloten met een special op Eredivisie Live: ‘FC Groningen in de play-offs’. In drie kwartier wordt teruggekeken op de deelnames van FC Groningen aan het toetje van de Eredivisie met als inzet Europees voetbal. De seizoenen tussen 2006 en 2013 passeren de revue met prachtige doelpunten van Luis Suarez, Marcus Berg, Tim Matavz en Leandro Bacuna.
Samen met ex-FC Groningen-trainer Ron Jans en voormalig keeper en huidig teammanager Bas Roorda wordt het succes verklaard van de seizoenen 2005/2006 en 2006/2007, waarin FC Groningen Europees voetbal haalde. In 2006 stond de Trots van het Noorden in de finale tegen Ajax zelfs op de drempel van plaatsing voor de voorronde van de Champions League. Wesley Sneijder schoot kort voor tijd die droom echter aan diggelen met een doelpunt, dat nooit goedgekeurd had mogen worden. Gedenkwaardige wedstrijd Jans vertelt waarom het in 2008 en 2009 niet lukte de play-offs te winnen, al zat FC Groningen er ook toen dichtbij. Net als in 2011, toen FC Groningen in een gedenkwaardige wedstrijd met 5-1 won van ADO Den Haag. Tim Matavz schoot in de beslissende strafschoppenserie de bal echter op de lat. Het was het finaleduel waarin Virgil van Dijk twee keer scoorde en zo in de tweede helft een volledige ommekeer teweegbracht, die niemand nog voor mogelijk had gehouden. Van Dijk kijkt in de special van de programmamakers Emiel Venema en Jos Schoenmaker terug op die ook voor hem zeer bijzondere wedstrijd. Uitzendingen De special ‘FC Groningen in de play-offs’ wordt zaterdag om 14.10 uur uitgezonden op Eredivisie Live 1. De special wordt zondag om 10.45 uur en maandag om 21.35 uur herhaald op Eredivisie Live 1.
De special ‘FC Groningen in de play-offs’ is zaterdag tevens te zien op OOG TV. De uitzending op de lokale omroep van Groningen begint om 15.30 uur en wordt doorlopend herhaald tot 09.00 uur zondagochtend.
