Technisch directeur Mark-Jan Fledderus rondde afgelopen week een drukke periode af. Het Nederlandse transferwindow sloot woensdag 31 augustus, het internationale window een dag later. Tot op de laatste dag werd er zaken gedaan. In de special: ‘Transferdeadline day in Groningen’ blikt technisch directeur Mark-Jan Fledderus terug op een bewogen zomer. De special werd woensdag uitgezonden op ESPN en is vanaf nu te zien via het YouTube-kanaal van FC Groningen.
FC Groningen had de zaken bij de start van de voorbereiding prima voor elkaar. Met Joey Pelupessy, Michael Verrips en Ragnar Oratmangoen was het Fledderus gelukt de nodige ervaring toe te voegen aan de selectie. Daarnaast lukte het de FC om in de personen van Liam van Gelderen en Nordin Musampa twee jonge verdedigers met veel groeimogelijkheden te contracteren. Veel van de sterkhouders van het afgelopen seizoen meldden zich weer op het TopsportZorgCentrum op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn.
Toch moest Fledderus aan het einde van deze zomerwindow nog vol aan de bak. De interesse in spits Jørgen Strand Larsen kwam van vele kanten en uiteindelijk werd op de laatste dag een voor FC Groningen recorddeal getekend met het Spaanse RC Celta. Tegenover het vertrek van de Noor staat de komst twee nieuwe aanvallers in de laatste transferweek. Fledderus kijkt uitgebreid terug op een hectische periode waarin veel is gebeurd.
