FC Groningen viert dit jaar haar 50-jarig bestaan, in de special ‘De internationale voorbereiding van FC Groningen’ wordt gekeken naar de voorbereiding op dit jubileumseizoen. De Trots van het Noorden kijkt uit naar wedstrijden met gejuich van supporters in het stadion. De special werd afgelopen week uitgezonden op ESPN en is vanaf nu te zien op YouTube.
In de special wordt teruggekeken op de voorbereiding waarin FC Groningen verschillende internationale tegenstanders uit grote competities trof. Trainer Danny Buijs kijkt uitgebreid terug op de oefencampagne.
Met vriendschappelijke wedstrijden tegen onder andere Borussia Mönchengladbach en KRC Genk heeft FC Groningen internationale krachtmetingen gehad. De afsluiting van deze voorbereiding een thuiswedstrijd was in Euroborg tegen het Italiaanse Venezia FC. Het was de eerste wedstrijd in bijna een jaar waarbij de FC weer supporters mocht ontvangen in het stadion.
De technische staf maakte tijdens het drukke trainingsschema van de voorbereiding ook tijd voor een speciale trainingsmiddag voor de G-selectie van VV ONR in Roden. De G-voetballers in Roden lieten hun shirts van VV ONR thuis en straalden op de training in het groen van FC Groningen. De technische staf van de Trots van het Noorden verzorgde op sportpark ‘Oranje’ een actieve en leuke training voor de enthousiastelingen.
Of de eerste selectie ook in de keuken uit de voeten kan, werd in de eerste trainingsweken getest. De voetballers hebben hun culinaire vaardigheden mogen laten zien tijdens een kookworkshop waarin zij gezonde gerechten hebben bereid. Exclusieve beelden hiervan zijn te zien in deze special.
