De 21-koppige selectie van FC Groningen is onderweg van Düsseldorf naar Tenerife. Om 11.40 uur vloog Air Berlin vlucht 2050 naar het Canarische Eiland met een delegatie van in totaal 58 personen.
Maandagavond zal de eerste training worden afgewerkt op het sportcomplex in de nabijheid van het hotel La Plantacion del Sur, waar FC Groningen ook in januari 2011 verbleef. Er zal dagelijks worden getraind. Oefenduel Donderdagmiddag is er een oefenduel met Zaterdag Hoofdklasser Quick Boys. De aftrap van het duel in het complex van Tenerife Top Training is om 17.00 uur lokale tijd. In Nederland is het dan 18.00 uur.
Naast de spelers en staf reizen enkele sponsors mee naar Spanje. Op deze site en via de Twitter-account van Hans Nijland zijn de verrichtingen van de selectie te volgen. Fotograaf Jan Kanning zal de fotografie verzorgen. Daarnaast is FC Groningen TV aanwezig voor een reportage. Ook Dagblad van het Noorden en RTV Noord zijn vertegenwoordigd op Tenerife. B-kern Van de B-kern is Tim Keurntjes mee als vervanger van de geblesseerde Thomas Enevoldsen. De overige zes spelers van de B-kern trainen deze week onder leiding van Dick Lukkien in Veendam.
