De eerste selectie van FC Groningen is in het gezelschap van de nieuwe aanwinst Nicklas Pedersen onderweg naar het Spaanse Marbella voor een zevendaags trainingskamp. De spelersgroep bestaat daardoor nu uit 24 personen.
Van de eerste selectie zijn drie spelers niet mee naar het trainingskamp. Matias Cahais, die bij FC Groningen mag vertrekken, is er niet bij. Martijn Meerdink, die werd teruggezet naar de Beloften, is niet mee. En ook Jeroen Veldmate, die aan beide liezen werd geopereerd, is in Nederland achtergebleven.
Een viertal spelers uit de Beloften zijn mee naar Marbella. Het gaat om verdediger Daryll Lachman, middenvelder Frank Olijve en de aanvallers Pepijn Kluin en Dennis Krohne. Naast enkele journalisten is ook een groep van een kleine dertig sponsors meegereisd met het gezelschap. Vanochtend rond zeven uur vertrok de vlucht vanaf Rotterdam naar Malaga. Van daaruit reist groep door naar Marbella. Dinsdagavond wordt voor het eerst getraind.
