Voor de eerste selectie van FC Groningen zit het trainingskamp erop. De ploeg van trainer Erwin van de Looi maakte optimaal gebruik van de zes volle dagen op Spaanse bodem, waarin onder meer geoefend werd tegen KV Oostende.
De ploeg reisde maandag af naar Spanje en in de eerste drie dagen stonden zes trainingen op het programma. Vrijdag werd gespeeld tegen het Belgische KV Oostende. Het duel van twee uur werd met 1-0 gewonnen door een treffer van debutant Alexander Sørloth.
Zaterdag was er tijd voor herstel en ontspanning in de vorm van footgolf en een bezoek aan Sevilla met het bezoek aan de wedstrijd tegen Athletic Club Bilbao en aansluitend een etentje in de buurt van het stadion. Vandaag, zondag 10 januari, stond opnieuw een serieuze training op het programma, vanaf 12.00 uur.
Na de late lunch van 16.00 uur vertrok het gezelschap van Costa Ballena naar het vliegveld van Sevilla. Daar staat de terugvlucht richting Schiphol gepland om 20.20 uur gepland. De ploeg zal vannacht terugkeren bij Euroborg. Morgenmiddag om 14.30 uur staat de eerste veldtraining op Nederlandse bodem alweer op de rol.
Dinsdag is een rustdag en vervolgens wordt er dagelijks getraind in de aanloop naar Groningen-Utrecht van zondag 17 januari, aanvang 14.30 uur in Euroborg.
