Eric Botteghin heeft van de aanklager betaald voetbal van de KNVB een schikkingsvoorstel gekregen voor één wedstrijd schorsing naar aanleiding van zijn rode kaart in de uitwedstrijd tegen ADO Den Haag. Dit voorstel wordt niet geaccepteerd. Yoëll van Nieff is automatisch voor één duel geschorst.
Botteghin vloerde Roland Alberg van ADO Den Haag, die zich in scoringspositie bevond, buiten het strafschopgebied. De Braziliaan kreeg naast de rode kaart opmerkelijk genoeg ook een strafschop tegen. FC Groningen en Botteghin hebben het schikkingsvoorstel verworpen. De tuchtzaak zal donderdagavond 20 maart in Zeist worden behandeld. De uitspraak wordt vrijdagochtend verwacht.
Automatisch Yoëll van Nieff is er zaterdag in de thuiswedstrijd tegen Vitesse hoe dan ook niet bij. De middenvelder kreeg zijn zevende gele kaart van het seizoen en is daardoor automatisch voor één wedstrijd geschorst. De vorige zes gele kaarten ontving hij overigens bij zijn periode als speler van FC Dordrecht in de Jupiler League.
