Gibril Sankoh is door de KNVB voor vijf duels geschorst. Hij ontbreekt daardoor in de resterende twee competitieduels en vervolgens nog eens drie officiële wedstrijden.
Sankoh kreeg gistermiddag in de thuiswedstrijd tegen Willem II zijn zevende gele kaart en is daardoor komende zondag 3 mei niet inzetbaar in het uitduel tegen FC Volendam.
In de 89ste minuut kreeg Sankoh ook nog eens een rode kaart. De aanklager betaald voetbal deed een schikkingsvoorstel van vijf duels schorsing waarvan één duel voorwaardelijk met een proeftijd van één jaar.
De club is akkoord gegaan met dit voorstel. Daardoor ontbreekt Sankoh in de thuiswedstrijd tegen NAC Breda op zondag 10 mei en vervolgens nog drie officiële wedstrijden. Hij is weer inzetbaar in het vierde play-offduel. Als FC Groningen wordt uitgeschakeld in twee wedstrijden, schuift het restant van de schorsing van Sankoh door naar het eerste competitieduel in het seizoen 2009/2010.
