De uitzending van FC Groningen TV van donderdag 9 oktober staat voor een groot deel in het teken van de oefenwedstrijd die FC Groningen woensdagavond speelde tegen FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt. Daarnaast kijkt FCG TV met Roland Baas terug op zijn officiële debuut afgelopen zondag tegen Feyenoord.
FC Groningen keerde woensdag na 23 jaar weer terug in het Duitse Erfurt om te voetballen tegen FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt. Het duel stond in het teken van het ‘afscheid’ van het Steigerwaldstadion, het stadion dat volledig gerenoveerd gaat worden. Rot-Weiss Erfurt nodigde FC Groningen uit voor de feestelijke wedstrijd omdat Erfurt tegen FC Groningen haar hoogtepunt beleefde. In 1991 won FC Rot-Weiss in de eerste ronde van de UEFA-Cup twee keer met 1-0 van de FC en bereikte zo de volgende ronde.
Verslaggever Emiel Venema en cameraman Jan Sliep reden woensdag naar Erfurt en maakten een reportage van de wedstrijd en de feestelijkheden die rond de wedstrijd werden georganiseerd. Voor FC Groningen-trainer Erwin van de Looi was het duel de mogelijkheid om een nieuw systeem te proberen: 4-4-2 met Danny Hoesen en Nick van der Velden als diepste aanvallers.
In de aanwezigheid van vele oud-spelers van Rot-Weiss Erfurt van 23 jaar geleden meldde Van de Looi na afloop van het duel: “We willen Rot-Weiss Erfurt graag bedanken voor de uitnodiging en hadden hier natuurlijk graag gewonnen na de nederlaag van 1991. Het is vanavond 1-1 geworden in een geweldige ambiance met veel sfeer. Als het gerenoveerde stadion geopend wordt dan zijn we graag voor een derde keer van de partij. Het was een eer om hierbij aanwezig te zijn geweest en ik wil het publiek en de organisatie dan ook van harte bedanken.” Debuut Afgelopen zondag maakte Roland Baas zijn officiële debuut voor FC Groningen. In de zestigste minuut verving hij Nick van der Velden waardoor er drie spelers uit de jeugdopleiding van FC Groningen in de verdediging stonden. Ondanks dat FC Groningen met 4-0 verloor, kijkt Baas met een goed gevoel terug op zijn debuut in het betaalde voetbal.
FC Groningen TV wordt donderdag om 18.00 uur uitgezonden op Fox Sports Eredivisie kanaal 3. De herhaling is te zien om 22.00 uur en 1.15 uur op kanaal 1 en 19.30 en 23.35 uur op kanaal 3. Vrijdag wordt FCG TV om 14.40 uur herhaald op kanaal 3.
FC Groningen TV is elke zaterdag vanaf 15.30 uur ook te zien op OOG TV, Ziggo kanaal 40. De uitzending wordt doorlopend herhaald tot zondagochtend 9.00 uur.
