Jong FC Groningen speelde maandagavond in Leeuwarden een oefenwedstrijd tegen de Beloften van NAC Breda. Het duel werd door de noorderlingen met 5-0 gewonnen. De stand bij rust was 3-0 voor Jong FC Groningen. Namens Jong FC scoorden Oebele Schokker, Arjen Hagenauw (2x), Roland Baas en werd er door de Bredanaars een eigen doelpunt gemaakt.
Vanuit de eerste selectie maakten Dino Islamovic en Henk Bos hun opwachting in het Cambuur Stadion. Daarnaast speelden de nodige spelers van Cambuur mee bij de ploeg van trainer Paul Raveneau.
FC Groningen stond via doelpunten van Schokker en Hagenauw al binnen vijf minuten met 2-0 voor tegen de Brabanders en hadden geen kind aan NAC. Ook in de tweede helft was het eenrichtingsverkeer naar het doel van NAC en moest FC-keeper Wieger Sietsma slechts één keer handelend optreden.
Henk Bos speelde de gehele eerste helft mee. Het was voor de linkeraanvaller zijn tweede optreden na lang blessureleed. Eerder maakte Bos zijn rentree op de velden in de oefenwedstrijd tegen HHC Hardenberg waarin hij een half uur speeltijd kreeg.
De Beloften van FC Groningen starten de competitie volgende week met een uitwedstrijd tegen Jong NEC/Oss. Opstelling Jong FC Groningen:
