Verdediger Niels Ridderstap van FC Groningen A1 neemt deze week met Aruba deel aan het Noord- en Midden-Amerikaans kampioenschap voor onder-20 teams, de CONFACAF U20 op Jamaica.
De ploeg van bondscoach Arent Bekhof speelt in de groepsfase met nog vijf landen en heeft inmiddels vier wedstrijden achter de rug. De Arubanen hebben vier wedstrijden verloren en één doelpunt gescoord. Woensdag is het duel met gastland Jamaica het laatste op het toernooi.
Verdediger Niels Riddertap van FC Groningen A1 speelde viermaal in de basisopstelling van Aruba onder-20. Na de nederlagen tegen Panama (0-4), Trinidad&Tobago (1-5), Verenigde Staten (0-8) en Guatemala (0-2) is de ploeg kansloos voor een top-3 klassering. In de laatste wedstrijd staat van woensdag- op donderdagnacht nog de eer op het spel.
