FC Groningen 2 speelt maandagmiddag, 19 augustus, de thuiswedstrijd tegen Vitesse 2 op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn. De aftrap is om 13.00 uur en de toegang is gratis.
FC Groningen 2 begon de Reserve-competitie Poule A afgelopen week met een 3-0 uitzege bij FC Twente 2. Vitesse 2 kwam nog niet in actie. In de competitie wordt gespeeld in twee poules van elk elf ploegen, die voor de winterstop een halve competitie afwerken.
De top-6 van beide poules worden na de winterstop samengevoegd en spelen dan onderling opnieuw een halve competitie. De onderste vijf ploegen worden na de jaarwisseling ook aan elkaar gekoppeld.
Aan de kant van FC Groningen kunnen drie nieuwelingen hun debuut maken in het groen-wit: Nicklas Strunck, Ahmed El Messaoudi en Joel Asoro. Naar verwachting zullen bij FC Groningen veel spelers hun opwachting maken, die zondagmiddag in Den Haag bij de uitwedstrijd tegen AZ op de reservebank begonnen.
