FC Groningen TV besteedt vanavond uitgebreid aandacht aan de benefietwedstrijd rond de actie Remco4Life. Daarnaast is er een terugblik op het duel tegen NEC.
Afgelopen zaterdag werd er een bijzondere wedstrijd gespeeld op het sportpark in Niekerk. Het zaterdag- en zondagteam van VV Niekerk nam het die middag op tegen een prominententeam van FC Groningen. Het duel stond in het teken van Remco4life, een stichting met als doel om de 11-jarige Remco Togtema uit Niekerk de kans te geven te genezen van neuroblastoom kinderkanker, een zeer zeldzaam voorkomende ziekte.
De voorzitter van de stichting, de bekende voetbalcommentator Evert ten Napel, zag bij het prominententeam van FC Groningen diverse oude bekenden voorbij komen. FC-topscorer aller tijden Peter Houtman, René Eijkelkamp, Bas Roorda, Barend Beltman, Hugo Alves Velame en Evert zijn favoriet Joop Gall waren naar Niekerk gekomen om in actie te komen tegen VV Niekerk. Zelfs voormalig linksback Magnus Johansson was ‘s ochtends vroeg in Zweden met zijn vrouw in het vliegtuig gestapt om bij de wedstrijd aanwezig te kunnen zijn.
Het prominententeam stond onder leiding van coach Robert Maaskant die zijn speciale wapen Hans Nijland in eerste instantie aan de kant liet. Maar het duurde niet lang of Nijland kon ook laten zien wat hij in huis heeft. Het leverde, ondanks de regen, een zeer geslaagde middag op die ruim 5000 euro opbracht. En zo is de kans weer wat groter geworden dat Remco een geslaagde behandeling van zijn ziekte kan ondergaan.
Zondag slaagde het eerste elftal van de FC er niet in te winnen van NEC. In de laatste minuut dompelde Geert-Arend Roorda FC Groningen in rouw met de beslissende 2-1. FC Groningen had wel kansen gekregen op meer, al was het spel deze keer niet goed. Dat vonden Tim Sparv en doelpuntenmaker Michael de Leeuw ook. Jonas Ivens maakte na ruim een half jaar zijn rentree bij FC Groningen als invaller voor de geblesseerde Virgil van Dijk. Ivens was ontevreden met het resultaat, maar blij met zijn eerste officiële speelminuten dit seizoen.
FC Groningen TV wordt vanavond om 18.00 uur uitgezonden op Eredivisie Live 1. De herhaling op EL2 is te zien om 19.00 uur, 21.00 uur en 23.00 uur. Woensdag wordt FCG TV om 08.30 uur en 13.15 uur herhaald op EL 1.
FC Groningen TV is zaterdag ook te zien op OOG TV. De uitzending op de lokale omroep van Groningen begint om 15.30 uur waarna het tot 9.00 uur in de ochtend wordt herhaald.
