FC Groningen heeft afgelopen zaterdagavond met 2-0 verloren bij PEC Zwolle.
FC Groningen begon niet heel goed aan de eerste helft. Zwolle speelde agressief waardoor de spelers veel moesten weggeven in de beginfase. Het was al na 5 minuten raak voor de thuisploeg van Ron Jans. Een vrije trap van Zwolle werd in het eigen doel gekopt door verdediger Kappelhof.
Na een onrustige eerste periode, herpakten de spelers van Erwin van de Looi zich en creëerden ze zelf ook meer en meer kansen. Ze kwamen helaas niet tot scoren, mede dankzij de goede doelman van PEC, Hahn. In de 20e minuut kreeg de Leeuw een grote kans, na een voortreffelijke aanname en een aantal keren hooghouden schoot hij net een meter naast het doel van Hahn. Ook uit de corner die volgde was Groningen gevaarlijk via een kopbal van Hoesen, die ook net over ging. 5 minuten later was het wéér Hoesen die een kans kreeg, dit keer schoot hij hem goed in de hoek, maar was het weer Hahn die Zwolle redde. Na ongeveer een half uur spelen kreeg PEC Zwolle een aantal kansen.
In de tweede helft was het Zwolle die in de 58e minuut weer uit een standaard situatie scoorde. Een vrije bal werd koppend teruggelegd door Sainsbury, waardoor Necid van dichtbij kon inkoppen en Padt kansloos liet. In het resterend half uur kreeg FC Groningen nog wel kansen om de aansluitingstreffer te maken, maar de Leeuw en Hoesen kregen de bal niet in het doel. Ook de drie wissels van FC Groningen konden geen treffer produceren. Na nog wat kleine kansjes over en weer was de wedstrijd gespeeld. Eindstand 2-0.
Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd liepen er 11 junior club leden mee aan de hand van de spelers van FC Groningen: Anna Joke Noorman, Mark Sinninghe, Doube Brouwer, Wilber Kobes, Niels Mulder, Martijn ten Have, Merleyn Prins, Jorn Garlich, Lyna Schonewille, Joost Olivier Bakker en Megan Lampe.
Komende woensdag speelt FC Groningen een oefenwedstrijd tegen Be Quick. Deze wedstrijd wordt gespeeld om 19.00 uur bij Be Quick. Komend weekend speelt FC Groningen geen wedstrijd door het interlandweekend. De eerstvolgende competitiewedstrijd is op zondag 23 november om 12.30 uur thuis tegen PSV uit Eindhoven.
