In de voorjaarscompetitie behaalde FC Groningen B2 de tweede zege op rij.
FC GRONINGEN B2 4-0 VITESSE B2 1-0 Mark Westra (28.), 2-0 Oege Sietse van Lingen (37.), 3-0 Luke Millar (56.), 4-0 Tom Boezerooy (80.pen.) opstelling FCG B2 Joep van de Haar, Oege Sietse van Lingen (77.Armani Mardjoeki), Daniel Camara Bos, Luka Prljic, Daniel Teune (77.Daphny Phillips), Mark Westra, Marc Vegter, Daniel van Kaam (70.Givancy Phillips), Teun Cools (67.Tom Boezerooy), Martijn van Maastrigt, Ebrar Yildirim (46.Luke Millar).
De ploeg van trainer Sander van Gessel speelde op Corpus den Hoorn een overtuigende wedstrijd tegen de leeftijdsgenoten van Vitesse. De eerste kans van de was voor Martijn van Maastrigt maar zijn inzet werd een gemakkelijke prooi voor de doelman. De Arnhemmers waren daarna een paar keer gevaarlijk. Een schot ging voorlangs terwijl een kopbal kansrijk over de lat zeilde. Vervolgens waren er goede mogelijkheden voor Marc Vegter en Teun Cools om de score te openen.
Na bijna een half uur spelen was het dan wel raak. Mark Westra werd alleen voor de doelman gezet waarop de middenvelder geen fout maakte. Vlak voor rust werd de voorsprong verdubbeld. In eerste instantie werd een inzet van Ebrar Yildirim gestopt maar via het been van Oege Sietse van Lingen kon heel Groningen alsnog juichen. Na de hervatting kwam de FC nooit in de problemen meer. Tot tweemaal toe kwam Vitesse met de schrik vrij maar groenwit kon de score alsnog opvoeren.
Uit een prachtige aanval bediende Marc Vegter invaller Luke Millar die op fraaie wijze de derde treffer liet aantekenen. Vegter kon daarna ook zelf scoren maar vlak voor de goalie schoot hij over. Vier minuten in blessuretijd viel het slotakkoord vanaf de strafschopstip. Tom Boezerooy werd gevloerd en hij schoot vanaf elfmeter zelf onberispelijk raak.
