Yénio Holder heeft zijn eerste contract getekend bij FC Groningen. De multifunctionele aanvaller die afgelopen weekend zijn 15e verjaardag vierde tekende deze week in Euroborg in het bijzijn van zijn familie een contract voor drie seizoenen bij de Trots van het Noorden. Holder maakt komend seizoen deel uit van de selectie van FC Groningen onder-16 dat onder leiding staat van trainer/coach/manager Björn Zwikker.
Holder begon met voetballen bij GVAV waar hij al snel opviel bij de scouts en mocht meetrainen in de voetbalschool van FC Groningen. Op 1 juli 2017 stroomde de aanvaller als 10 jarige vervroegd in, binnen de Opleiding van de Trots van het Noorden.
Het is uitzonderlijk voor FC Groningen om een 15-jarige jeugdspeler te contracteren en hoofd jeugdscouting Arno de Jong is blij met het ondertekenen van deze overeenkomst. “Yénio is een multifunctionele aanvaller die op meerdere posities kan spelen. Hij is altijd als bovengemiddeld talent aangemerkt en daarom zijn we blij dat we Yénio hebben kunnen binden aan de club.”
“We beseffen ons dat hij heel jong is en hoewel Yénio over de voorwaarden beschikt om nog verder te groeien, is de weg naar het uiteindelijke hoofddoel – het eerste elftal van FC Groningen – nog lang. Hij zal daar zal keihard voor moeten blijven werken. We gaan er samen met de gehele technische staf van de Opleiding en alle specialisten, alles aan doen hem daarin te begeleiden en ondersteunen om zijn droom waar te maken. Dit contract is een mooie beloning voor de stappen die Yénio tot op heden in onze Opleiding heeft gezet.”
