Samen met voetballend Nederland en minister Asscher, trapt ook FC Groningen officieel de campagne af, die een streep zet door discriminatie. Door een koppeling te maken tussen de campagne van de rijksoverheid en de verbindende kracht van voetbal kunnen partijen een eensgezinde positieve en krachtige boodschap afgeven vanuit het gehele voetbal; Voetbal is van iedereen, zet een streep door discriminatie.
We hebben 7 miljoen voetballiefhebbers in Nederland. Een uniek verbindend netwerk van mensen met verschillende achtergronden. Ze hebben allemaal één passie; voetbal. Maar voetbal is een afspiegeling van de maatschappij. Helaas wordt het voetbal daarom nu en dan geconfronteerd met maatschappelijke spanningen, zoals discriminatie en racisme. Deze discriminerende en anderszins kwetsende uitingen horen niet thuis in het voetbal. FC Groningen en alle andere betaald voetbal organisaties nemen hiervan afstand.
Landelijke campagne
Daarom wordt dezer dagen de landelijke campagne ‘Voetbal is van iedereen, zet een streep door discriminatie’ gehouden. Een boodschap gericht aan alle voetballiefhebbers, die het zat zijn geassocieerd te worden met kwetsende en discriminerende acties in het voetbal.
