FC Groningen speelt zaterdagmiddag in Uithuizermeeden tegen het combinatieteam RWE Eemsmond. De drie nieuwe aanwinsten zullen net als coach Pieter Huistra hun officieuze debuut maken op het veld van SV De Heracliden. Het duel begint om 15.00 uur.
In de eerste van negen oefenduels is het combinatieteam van ploegen (KRC, Usquert, Noordpool UFC, Warffum, ZEC, De Heracliden en Corenos) uit de regio Eemsmond tegenstander van de ploeg van Pieter Huistra. Vorig jaar won FC Groningen in Roodeschool met 13-0 van dezelfde tegenstander.
Deze editie kent drie nieuwe gezichten voor de eerste selectie. Dat zijn Dusan Tadic, Jonas Ivens en Maikel Kieftenbeld. Ook Beloften-speler Tim Keurntjes is nieuw in de ploeg van Pieter Huistra, die zijn officieuze coachdebuut maakt namens FC Groningen.
Bij de FC zijn nog een aantal afwezigen. De eerste en tweede doelman Luciano da Silva (pink) en Brian van Loo (kuit) zijn er niet bij. Ook Danny Holla, Petter Andersson, Jeffrey Rijsdijk en Kelvin Bossman kunnen de eerste wedstrijd van het seizoen niet deelnemen.
Verder verblijft Oluwafemi Ajilore momenteel in Nigeria, waar zijn broer gaat trouwen. Andreas Granqvist sluit maandag weer aan bij de selectie en de WK-gangers Tim Matavz en Thomas Enevoldsen hebben nog ruim twee weken vrijaf.
Het duel begint zaterdagmiddag om 15.00 uur op het Gemeentelijk Sportpark aan de Grote Hadderstraat in Uithuizermeeden. Kaarten voor volwassenen kosten 9 euro en kinderen tot en met 12 jaar betalen 5 euro.
