Sinds afgelopen maandag trainen de eerste selectie en Jong FC Groningen op de nieuwe velden van Corpus den Hoorn. Maandagochtend om half twaalf werd het hek symbolisch voor de eerste keer geopend door ‘oudgediende’ Tom Hiariej, die zijn opleiding bij FC Groningen ooit op Corpus begon.
Naast de trainingsvelden voor het eerste en ‘Jong FC’ werd ook het Corpus Huys in gebruik genomen. De afgelopen maanden is keihard gewerkt om onder meer een spelershome, krachthonk, kleedruimtes en kantoren te creëren in het gebouw dat bekend stond als de ‘Oude ALO’.
Vanuit het Corpus Huys kunnen de spelers en bezoekers via een nieuwe loopbrug, een ‘Hoogholtje’, de wielerbaan oversteken naar het terrein met de trainingsvelden. De velden van de eerste selectie, Jong FC Groningen en de overige opleidingsteams liggen allen in elkaars verlengde.
Over twee jaar, medio 2017, zal naar verwachting het Topsportzorgcentrum gereed zijn en zullen alle elftallen en staffuncties van het eerste elftal en de zes opleidingsteams verhuizen naar hun nieuwe onderkomen.
