De nieuwe selectie van het jongste jeugdteam, FC Groningen D2, begint vorm te krijgen. Woensdagmiddag hebben negen spelers en hun ouders in Euroborg een overeenkomst getekend voor het seizoen 2015/2016.
In de Vastgoed Lounge in Euroborg werden de negen voetballers en hun ouders ontvangen door hoofd jeugdopleiding Paul Raveneau en coördinator Edwin Bolt. In de persruimte van het stadion werden vervolgens de overeenkomsten ondertekend. De spelers zijn in de afgelopen twee seizoenen reeds op woensdagmiddag actief bij de voetbalschool van FC Groningen. Daarnaast trainen en spelen zij allemaal bij hun eigen amateurvereniging.
De volgende spelers dragen komend seizoen het shirt van FC Groningen: Aaron van den Berg (De Held). Thom van Bergen (Gorecht), Gilanni Bos (GVAV Rapiditas), David Brouwer (WVV), Jay Kuiper (GVAV Rapiditas), Maxim Mariani (Be Quick 1887), Jayden Plassaer (GVAV Rapiditas), Milan Schaaphok (VKW) en Jorg Schreuders (Be Quick 1887).
Nu de overeenkomsten met FC Groningen getekend zijn, zal de verdere afwikkeling richting de amateurclubs plaatsvinden. De pupillen zijn goed op de hoogte van wat er bij komt kijken om profvoetballer te worden en zullen komend seizoen minimaal vier keer per week de gang naar Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn maken. De komende periode zal de groep verder worden aangevuld tot een volwaardige selectie voor de komende voetbaljaargang.
