Jong FC Groningen speelt maandagavond tegen Jong PSV in Euroborg. Het duel begint om 18.30 uur. Het stadion gaat open om 17.30 uur.
Trainer Anton Janssen van Jong PSV beschouwt voor op het duel tussen de nummer 6 en 2 van de ranglijst. “Ik vind het een heel goed initiatief. Tijdens de wedstrijden op maandagavond druipt de sfeer er vaak niet vanaf. In een groter stadion met meer publiek is dat hopelijk wel het geval. Het is mooi dat FC Groningen zoveel aandacht aan deze wedstrijd schenkt. Ook naar de vooral jonge supporters kweekt FC Groningen op deze manier veel goodwill. Het zijn toch de potentiële seizoenkaarthouders die komen kijken. De band met supporters en sponsors wordt op deze manier alleen maar beter.”
Jong PSV staat op dit moment tweede in de Eredivisie voor Beloftenteams. Janssen wil uiteraard graag kampioen worden, maar de doelstelling voor zijn team is een heel andere, zo geeft hij aan. “De nadruk ligt op ontwikkelen. Dat geldt voor de jonge jongens, maar ook voor de jongens van het eerste team. Zij willen kijken hoever ze zijn ten opzichte van het eerste elftal. Als je bovenaan staat, wil je natuurlijk wel kampioen worden, maar een echte doelstelling is moeilijk te bepalen. Je hebt geen vaste selectie en weet niet welke jongens je van het eerste krijgt. Daar moet je flexibel mee omgaan.”
