Luciano da Silva zal komende zaterdag in de uitwedstrijd tegen Roda JC niet het doel kunnen verdedigen van FC Groningen. De Braziliaanse keeper raakte zondag in de wedstrijd tegen Ajax na 72 minuten spelen geblesseerd na een botsing met ploeggenoot Fredrik Stenman.
Luciano en Stenman kwamen met elkaar in aanraking bij een uiterste poging de tweede treffer van Ajax te voorkomen. Beide Groningen-spelers raakten bij die actie geblesseerd. Stenman kon worden opgelapt, maar Luciano moest zich met hevige knieklachten laten vervangen door Brian van Loo.
Een dag na de met 2-0 verloren openingswedstrijd van het seizoen valt de teleurstelling van het gezicht van de keeper af te lezen. Luciano beweegt zich strompelend door de catacomben van Euroborg. “Ik heb veel pijn”, zegt hij op zachte toon. De populaire goalie is zichtbaar aangeslagen. “Ik moet vooral rusten en de knie met ijs behandelen. Het lijkt op een binnenband-blessure van de knie en het is nog niet te zeggen hoe lang ik uit de roulatie ben. Ik baal er enorm van. Ik wil spelen en dat kan nu even niet.”
Trainer Ron Jans kan evenmin aangeven hoe lang hij zijn eerste keeper zal moeten missen. “De blessure is nog vers. Het is bandletsel, maar we moeten de komende dagen even afwachten hoe de knie reageert. Voorlopig zijn we hem even kwijt, tegen Roda JC zal Luciano niet kunnen keepen.”
